Tom Girardi Sentenced to More Than Seven Years in Federal Prison
(Subscription required) Tom Girardi's lawyers pleaded for the judge to impose a noncustodial sentence so that their client, who turns 86 years old Tuesday and has dementia, could serve his sentence at a memory care unit in assisted living. "Today is the last day he will ever step foot in a courtroom," federal public defender Sam Cross said at Tuesday's sentencing hearing.
