A YouTuber who took a prank too far when he tricked a homeless man into eating Oreos filled with toothpaste could face jail.

Kanghua Ren, who posts videos on the site as ReSet, filmed himself preparing and carrying out the 'joke'.

Footage shows him scraping off the creamy white filling and instead smearing toothpaste between the two chocolate-y biscuits.

The 20-year-old then places several of the snacks back inside the packet.

Later on in the clip you see him walking down a street in Barcelona.

He stops and starts talking to a homeless man - called Gheorge L - sat outside a building and after giving him some money he also gives him the biscuits.

Gheorge can be seen clasping his hands together in gratitude and saying thank you to the vlogger.

But after eating the snacks the 52-year-old from Romania said he instantly felt sick and vomited five minutes later.

He also said he feared for his life as he did not know ReSet or what was in the food.

But it appeared Ren did not feel guilty about the prank.

He Joked: "Maybe I've gone a bit far, but look at the positive side: This will help him clean his teeth.

"I think he hasn't cleaned them since he became poor."

The incident happened in January last year and caused outrage.

Court documents seen by El Pais showed the YouTuber has managed to earn £1,730 through advertising on his channel and he has more than a million subscribers.

But ReSet, who is originally from China, now faces a charge of a crime against moral integrity.

Spanish prosecutors are hoping to seek a sentence of two years in prison and an order to pay €30,000 (£26,100) compensation to the homeless man.

After the original video, ReSet went to visit the man again and made another video to ask how he liked the Oreos.

He said: "People exaggerate over jokes in the street played on a beggar, when surely if it's done to a normal person they wouldn't say antyhing."

He also planned to spend a night on the street with the homeless Romanian but the police were called by a witness.

Prosecutors said ReSet later deleted the clips and offered the man €300 for his silence in an attempt to "reestablish his image" and "ingratiate himself with public opinion".

He is currently on bail awaiting judgement.

Gheorge said he had never been treated so badly in all the time he has been on the streets.

The court heard ReSet has also previously offered sandwiches filled with cat poo to children and elderly people.
