KARACHI: Pakistan on Sunday had to be content with the silver medal when they were downed by arch-rivals India 51-50 in a razor-tight final of the Asian Men’s Netball Championship in Malaysia.
In the last edition’s final, Pakistan had been beaten by Malaysia.“The team played really well but luck did not favour us,” Pakistan Netball Federation’s (PNF) president Mudassir Arain said.He said that next time they would make more vigorous efforts to win gold for the country. Pakistan had defeated India with an enviable ease in the league game.
In the first three quarters, Pakistan had an upper hand as the scores were 13-11, 25-23 and 40-36 in Pakistan’s favour. But India bounced back strongly, keeping the Green-shirts under tight check in the decisive quarter to seal a fantastic win. Meanwhile, Singapore defeated Malaysia 50-48 to win bronze.
