MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte is only waiting for a “document” before returning to the Philippines from The Hague, Netherlands, where her father is currently detained.

“I’m just waiting for one more document, and then and then my job here is done,” said Duterte in a mix of English and Filipino in a recent chance interview.

Asked if this means that her father’s legal team is already complete, Duterte said no, pointing out that lead counsel Nicholas Kaufman was still interviewing lawyers who would be part of former President Rodrigo Duterte’s defense team.

“Hopefully before I leave, that team is already complete, but at the moment, no, it’s not complete,” she said.

Meanwhile, her sister Veronica said in the same chance interview that their brothers — Sebastian and Paolo — were also set to visit their father pending the finalization of their schedule.

Former President Duterte has been detained at the ICC detention center in Scheveningen, The Hague, after being arrested for crimes against humanity he allegedly committed during his administration’s war against drugs, which left at least 6,000 people dead, while human rights groups report at least 20,000.
