Idiot no match for hulking jail guard after alleged break-in

A man apparently hopped up on drugs “simply picked the wrong house to burglarize” after breaking into the home of a 330-pound corrections officer, authorities said.

Anthony Jones, 35, of Standish, Maine, broke into the Limington home of Sean Wilson at about 2:30 p.m. and appeared to be in a drug-induced state of delirium, the Portland Press Herald reports, citing a statement by York County Sheriff William King.

Drenched in sweat and bleeding from the mouth, Jones told Wilson he was being pursued, but Wilson – a 6-foot-2, 330-pound former high school football player – thought something else was going on.

“Jones was rambling about people chasing him and appeared to have excited delirium,” King said, adding that he was apparently under the influence of some type of drug.

Wilson, who was home with two of his young children at the time, was getting ready to start his shift at the York County Jail while awaiting his older children to arrive. After the alleged break-in, Wilson told his children to go to a rear bedroom and ordered Jones to lie on the floor.

But Jones started walking toward the rear bedroom, prompting the hulking Wilson to wrestle him to the floor and call police, King said.

Wilson held Jones until deputies arrived and arrested him for burglary. Jones was also being sought for violating his probation from an earlier domestic violence incident, King said.

Jones had not been booked into jail as of late Tuesday due to his mental state, according to the Portland Press Herald.

There’s no indication of any connection between Jones and Wilson, King said.

“It appears that Jones simply picked the wrong house to burglarize,” he said.
