Komen Lowcountry’s annual ‘Race for the Cure’ happened Saturday, October 21.

It was an inspiring event, and at times it felt more like a party than a race.

" I love all the love and I love seeing everyone and all the pink out here," says Channing Schroder.

Shroder’s mother is a survivor of cancer and says, “It means a lot. I'm supporting my mom, and I love her to death, and I am so happy she is still here.”

"It’s uplifting because you look around, and it could be anybody. This disease doesn't discriminate so it means a lot for all of us to come together on this day,” says Schroder’s mom.

Another participant ran for her aunt.

“I had an aunt who passed away from breast cancer, so this is an important thing to me and not only to donate but to join together,” says Janell Riley.

Nikki Young lost her mother to ovarian cancer.

“We came to support my mom, this is for her it means the world to me to have funds going to cancer research to continue to fight this fight,” said Riley.
