The Nevada Department of Corrections confirmed Wednesday that convicted murderer Scott Dozier is set to be executed on July 11.

The execution is tentatively planned for 8 p.m. at the Ely State Prison in eastern Nevada after Clark County District Court Judge Jennifer Togliatti signed the execution order Tuesday.

Dozier's execution will be the first one in the state of Nevada since Daryl Mack in 2006.

Opponents criticized the state's lethal cocktail, particularly the paralytic drug Cisatracurium, arguing that the combination could mask possible suffering.

But on Wednesday, NDOC spokeswoman Brooke Santina told News 4-Fox 11 there would be "some change" from the previous lethal cocktail.

Santina could not confirm which drug or drugs would be different than the cocktail the state initially planned to use.

The state's supply of the sedative Diazepam expired on May 1, but Santina said the state has adequate amounts of Cisatracurium and the opioid Fentanyl to carry out the execution.

Dozier has maintained that he wants to die, but his federal public defender David Anthony recently reiterated that Dozier would prefer a humane execution as opposed to a painful one.

The 47-year-old was convicted in 2007 of murdering 22-year-old Jeremiah Miller at a Las Vegas motel. He was also convicted 12 years ago in Arizona for the murder of 26-year-old Jasen Green.
