A man and three children were rescued Saturday, Oct. 7, from a boat that was stranded on Lake Maurepas in Louisiana as Hurricane Nate was approaching the Gulf Coast.
St. John the Baptist Parish sheriff's deputies stepped in when they received word around 2 p.m. Saturday of a distress call from a 39-year-old man whose boat had stalled.

Hurricane Nate, following a deadly churn through Central America, crossed the Gulf of Mexico and made landfall in the northern Gulf Coast late Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017. The fast-moving system became a tropical storm not long after the eyewall landed in Biloxi, Miss.
