Fixing faults

A NUMBER OF CHALLENGES have plagued the first couple of days of CARIFESTA XIII and organisers have promised to head back to the drawing board to iron them out.

Although the CARIFESTA secretariat could hardly be blamed for the passing of Tropical Storm Harvey and its fallout, the weather system sent the initial planning into a tailspin which has resulted in low attendance at certain events, the non-appearance of some actors and cancellations.

The Bermuda contingent of dancers on Monday left the Frank Collymore Hall because fewer than ten people turned up. They reported that was the third time they had to cancel, citing either small numbers or an empty venue.

Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley said he did not want to condemn them for their act, but preferred to see greater promotion and different scheduling. (TG)
