SAN MARINO>> Police checking a call of an unfamiliar sport utility vehicle parked in a driveway caught two burglary suspects walking out of a vacant home Monday.

Officers found a credit card in the victim’s name, a small amount of methamphetamine and a meth pipe in one of the suspects’ purse, according to Sgt. Tim Tebbetts. He said police also discovered clothing, a blender and a small lamp in the SUV. Officers are checking if these items belonged to the victim.

Tebbetts alleged the suspects — a brother and a sister from Montclair — entered the home in the 1400 block of San Gabriel Boulevard through an unlocked rear door. He added that the suspects are also acquaintances of three people who were arrested for a June 22 trespassing and burglary at the same house.

Monday’s incident began when someone saw a Toyota SUV in the driveway and called police at 5:57 p.m.

Tebbetts said a man wearing a baseball cap, rubber gloves and carrying a pair of pliers walked out the front door. A woman left via the back door.

The man claimed he lived at the house but police didn’t buy his story.

“We know the owner,” Tebbetts said.

Detective Brian Wong said the owner had moved but left behind furniture and other personal belongings. Wong said the man still owns the property and didn’t know the suspects.

Officers arrested Tuan Le, 52, of Montclair on suspicion of burglary and for a no-bail burglary warrant out of West Covina. Judy Le, 44, of Montclair was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession stolen credit cards.

Both were booked at Alhambra Police jail. Booking records show Tuan Le is being held without bail while Judy Le’s bail is $50,000.

They’re scheduled for a Thursday arraignment at Alhambra Superior Court.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Detective Wong at 626-300-0719 or Detective Gomez-Lara at 626-300-0728.
