WAUSAU, Wis. (WFRV) – A middle school teacher in central Wisconsin, who was arrested on Thursday after authorities reportedly found cocaine inside his vehicle in the school’s parking lot, was in court on Friday.

Court records show that 23-year-old Nevan Larson appeared in court with an attorney via Zoom for an initial appearance.

Larson entered a not guilty plea and the court ordered a $2,500 signature bond. Along with the bond, Larson is to have no contact with any schools or school grounds and he is to have absolute sobriety with no possession of any controlled substances except for prescriptions that are taken as prescribed.

Multiple dates have been scheduled in the case with an indigence hearing scheduled for May 9, a pre-trial conference for June 5, and a judicial pretrial for August 9.

Cocaine found in Wisconsin middle school teacher’s vehicle in school parking lot, arrested

WAUSAU, Wis. (WFRV) – A middle school teacher in central Wisconsin was arrested after authorities reportedly found cocaine inside his vehicle in the school’s parking lot on Thursday.

According to releases from the Wausau Police Department and Wausau School District, a school resource officer (SRO) at John Muir Middle School got information on May 2 about a teacher possibly having cocaine in his vehicle.

The SRO then found the vehicle, allegedly belonging to 23-year-old Nevan Larson, in the school parking lot and requested a K9 sniff of the vehicle.

After a positive alert on the vehicle, it was then searched. Officers reportedly found roughly 1 gram of suspected cocaine in Larson’s vehicle. A test of the substance was positive for cocaine, officers say.

As a result of the investigation, Larson was arrested and taken to the Marathon County Jail. The Wausau Police Department recommended a charge of Possession of Cocaine with an enhancer of Possessing a Controlled Substance on or Near Certain Places to the Marathon County District Attorney’s Office.

Larson is expected to make his initial court appearance on Friday, May 3.

Mr. Larson has been placed on a leave of absence pending the outcome of an investigation. You are advised that any resulting charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
